Officials of the 10th Festival of Pacific Arts Organizing Committee gathered today at the Utulei Beach Park and Samoana High School campus to finalize the sites for the construction of Samoan fales for the Festival Village. The Department of Public Works will be constructing the first of 27 fales on the Samoana malae beginning tomorrow. This fale will be the model for 26 more, which several villages throughout American Samoa have offered to build through the cooperation of the Office of Samoan Affairs, as their contribution to the festival committee. All 27 fales will circle the Samoana malae.
Also determined this morning was the site for the stage for the performing arts during the festival. Fletcher Construction has offered to build the large stage, which will be at the Utulei Beach Park with the harbor and Rainmaker mountain as a backdrop.
