PURPOSE
Provide a forum to engage in conversation about issues and challenges of the Pacific arts sector and to develop networks and solutions to proactively counter these.
TENTATIVE PROGRAMME
DAY 1: MONDAY 28th JULY: 9.00AM – 11.00PM
a. Session One: Development, resources and support networks
Introduction to the Pacific Arts Alliance – Networking and partnerships between artists and arts organisations
Panel discussion: Art form issues & barriers for artists
Facilitators: Letila Mitchell and Daniel Waswas
Panelists: To be invited from country delegations
DAY 1: MONDAY 28th JULY: 11.30AM – 12.30PM
b. SessionTwo: International Development and Support
Panel discussion: What support is out there? Who really does want to help?
Facilitator: Anton Carter
Panelists: CNZ, ACP, Pacific Fund
Panelists to discuss:
Creative New Zealand model
ACP strategies and funding for Arts Development and the Creative Industries
Pacific Fund and other regionally based support mechanisms
DAY 1: MONDAY 28TH JULY 1.30PM – 3.30PM
c. Session Three: Regional development and protection
Panel discussion: Who are we are regional bodies and what is our role in arts development and protection
Facilitators: Mere Ratunabuabua
Panelists: Elise Huffer, UNESCO rep, PIMA rep, APRA rep
Presentation by South Pacific Commission - Who and what work is being done at regional policy level to protect and support the artists
DAY 2: TUESDAY 29TH JULY 9.00AM – 10.00AM
d. Session Four: Mobilising Pacific artists
Panel discussion: Compliance and issues of entry into international festivals, exhibitions and events and issues of copyright waivers
Facilitator: Ole Maiava
Panelists: ACP Cultural Festival, Rhoda Roberts(Director, Dreaming Festival), APRA
DAY 2: TUESDAY 29TH JULY 10.30AM – 12.30PM
e. Session Five: Arts and trade – developing the Creative Industries in the Pacific
Panel discussion: Issues in developing the arts sector and creative industries with little protection, support and opportunity – how do we change this? Is there Fair trade? How do we facilitate access to markets?

Panelists: Pacific Islands Trade and Investment Commission, Trade Aid NZ
